===== Wi-Fi Direct Mode (NEW!) ====

PdaNet+ comes with a brand new “Wi-Fi Direct Hotspot” feature that works with all Android phones 4.1 and above. You can connect your computer or tablet to your phone using Wi-Fi, but you’ll need to install a client app or set up a proxy, depending on the device you’re connecting to with your phone. Enable “Wi-Fi Direct Hotspot” on PdaNet+, then “Help!” Tap on Click on the button for detailed instructions.

*If Hotspot doesn’t appear on your Windows computer during pairing, please do two things: 1. Restart Hotspot on your phone.

2. Click Show All WiFi Direct Hotspots. Check if your adapter supports 5Ghz.

==== Foxfire/WIFI Hotspot Mode (Old) ====

If you want native WiFi hotspot functionality, it lives in a separate FoxFi app. Due to carrier update it stopped working on many new phone models. Even when it works, your hotspot usage can still be measured (see plan 2 below). A WiFi Direct Hotspot can solve both problems. However, this new feature is not meant to support gaming devices, TVs or TV streaming devices.

===== USB Mode =====

USB mode works with all Android phones (except some ZTE/Alcatel models). You can connect from Windows or Mac. Additionally, there is a “WiFi Sharing” feature that can turn Windows into a WiFi hotspot so you can share PdaNet Internet with other devices.

You can connect to Windows using Bluetooth mode. However, WiFi Direct mode is preferred.

===== Do I need this software?======

PdaNet software has been around since the first Treo smartphone in 2003. With a total of over 30 million downloads, it is sure to be what everyone needs. It depends on the type of mobile data plan. Most carriers have 4 types of data plans.

1. Your data plan (limited or unlimited) does not allow you to turn on the Mobile Hotspot feature on your phone (you will be asked to call your carrier).
2. The data plan is unlimited and you can turn on and use Mobile Hotspot from your phone. However, hotspot usage ranges from ‘pay-as-you-go’ to a maximum limit (eg 5G/month). After that the motion is stopped for crawling. (FoxFi can’t avoid it!)
3. The data plan is unlimited and you can turn on the mobile hotspot from your phone. Unlimited LTE usage and no throttling cap. This plan does not exist or is not intended. However, some phone models have seen drawbacks that allow this.
4. My data plan is limited and I can turn on mobile hotspot from my phone. Mobile hotspot usage is less than the limit of the same data plan.

If your plan falls under 1 or 2, you should use PdaNet+. PdaNet+ doesn’t matter if your plan is 3 or 4. If you don’t know what plan you have, there’s no harm in always using PdaNet+.
The free version of PdaNet+ has a time limit, but it is the same as the retail version.

Sprint and AT&T may not be able to install apps from the Play Store. Install the APK file directly from http://pdanet.co/install or install it from your computer.
